14-15 December 2024
Leader: Elisabeth Hynes
There were 11 of us meeting up at a café in Greytown for the start of the pre-Christmas camping and tramping trip to Totara Flats. It was sunny and we were happy the forecast was good.
The road-end was busy and full, and we met Kylie there making 12 of us.
We had an enjoyable walk in, with long stops on the way. We set up camp beside the river in our favourite spot in trees around a fireplace. Despite the forecast, a wind had sprung up and there were a few raindrops. But we all managed a swim; it was cold. The rest of the day was a sociable time.
It rained a little at night and was grey but dry on Sunday morning. Six walked up to Sayers Hut and the other six began the walk out. We met up again at the swimming hole below the road end. We had another chilly dip in the river, in sun this time. The fun was continued on our way home with lunch at Greytown.
Thanks Elizabeth for organising the trip and for helping us have such a relaxing time.
Those on the trip were:
