Welcome to the Parawai Tramping Club

The Parawai Tramping Club is an established tramping club which aims to meet the needs of people from the Kapiti Coast and further afield, who are interested in tramping.

The club has an activity nearly every weekend. These activities range from easy walks to reasonably demanding tramps in the lower North Island. Each year there are always a few trips to places further afield, such as Tongariro National Park or the South Island. The club welcomes family members on appropriate trips and the programme usually includes trips suitable for families to participate in. The club also caters for those with an interest in mountain biking and kayaking. Club nights are a review of past and future activities. We frequently have guests speaking on various topics associated with tramping.

For more information you can contact our President, Neville Grubner or our Secretary, Paula Richardson.

Corona virus and Club activity

New Zealand has moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4 for at least the next four weeks. This means that there are restrictions on travel and people are asked to stay at home. Clearly this will impact on Club activities.

Parawai Tramping Club is cancelling all club nights until further notice. We are also cancelling all club trips while we are at the level 4 alert. When the alert level reduces, we will re-evaluate the trip situation and possibly look at some smaller day trips close to home.

Updates to the trip schedule will start appearing shortly and the new trip programme is being held over as we see how things unfold. For our own health and safety, we should work to limit the pandemic as much as possible. Finally, be nice to each other and remember to contact your friends in the Club if you need anything or are climbing up the wall with boredom and need a diversion from the crossword or the TV.

For Club nights contact our President, Neville Grubner and for trips contact our Chief Guide, Owen Cox if you want to discuss anything relating to this matter.
