The Parawai Tramping Club is a group of like minded people from the Kapiti Coast who enjoy tramping in the NZ Outdoors. In addition to tramping, the club organises mountain bike rides, kayak and ski trips. Most activities are centred around the lower North Island but also include trips to the South Island and other North Island locations.
Club night is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month in Paraparaumu. Upcoming trips are discussed, and a guest speaker gives a presentation.
Corona virus and Club activity
As New Zealand enters level 2 we can start up club activity again. The new rules mean that we cannot have activities involving more than 10 people.
We can however run trips that follow the rules around records, keeping away from others and having some personal space. In addition, camping and use of huts is OK. Huts ought to be kept half empty and we will need to avoid mixing with other parties. Any overnight trip could involve camping to ensure we do not end up closely mixing with others.
We are working on updates for the trip schedule and will be updating the website as ideas develop and as the corona virus rules/processes evolve. For our own health and safety, we should work to limit the pandemic as much as possible.
