Te Pua-aTane Cicuit - Whirinaki Forest Park
Organiser:Sandra Rowland
Phone:0212885559
Grade:Medium/Fit
Fare:$65 + $40 shuttle

Limit to 8 people, first in first severed.
We will be taking an extra day to reduce big days and possibly allow some camping.
Cost: Shuttle $40, plus one night's accommodation in Taupo or Minginui.

The Proposed itinerary currently is:
Day 1 - River Road to Upper Whirinaki Hut with a good stop at Central Whirinaki Hut. 8 hours straight forward walking 4-5 hours on formed track before a bit of creek crossing.
Day 2 - Upper Whirinaki Hut to Upper Te Hoe Hut. Not so straight forward walking 7-8 hours.
Day 3 - Upper Te Hoe to Central Te Hoe Hut. 5 hours - climb up and back down.
Day 4 - Central Te Hoe to Te Wairoa/Rodgers Hut. Straight forward walking 7 hours. Historic hut on Urewera boundary.
(There is a definite option here to have an easier Day 4 to Mangakahika Hut and not stop at Rodgers)
Day 5 - Rodgers through to Moerangi Hut. Easy 3 hours so a chance to relax.
Day 6 - Moerangi out to River Road carpark and shuttle pick up.

Getting there requires a 1 1/2 hour drive past Taupo, therefore we will have a night either in Taupo or at a 'motel' at $60 each with the shuttle people (Whirinaki Adventures) at Minginui.
The shuttle includes drop off, pick up and car storage. Best option for peace of mind.
We can be out early afternoon on the last day so there will be time to drive home that same day if that is preferred option.

26-30 October
Clarence River Rafting
Organiser:Glen Cattermole
Phone:0212657765
Grade:Rafting
Fare:$2,150 per adult + the cost of getting down to the South Island

5 days classic rafting on the Clarence River
Minimum 6 people
The costs include the following:
Great food and wine, all meals prepared, qualified, experienced guides, all personal on boat gear, all tents and camping gear, dry bags and transport from our base at Clarence to the beginning of the trip in Molesworth. The trip is a bouncy class 2; fun white-water, but not scary. Mostly it's a fantastic expedition through the Molesworth, and then between the Inland and Seaward Kaikoura ranges. The white-water and length of days are suitable for folks with no rafting experience, a reasonable but not high level of fitness is sufficient. We can take people of all levels and ages. Minimum age is 5.
Great comfortable camping, multi-day rafting is the best of both worlds as it gets you in the back country but you can take heaps of gear.
With a group booking on any of the trips we can supply transport from either Picton, Blenheim or Christchurch.
We have been running the Clarence for over twenty years with an immaculate safety record. We operate under the Worksafe AAR (adventure activities regulations) with annual audits and under a DOC concession.
All guides are NZ Rafting Association-qualified guides. Our senior guides are very experienced on the Clarence with a good knowledge of local and natural history. A full safety briefing is given before getting on the water. Feel free to call me anytime to chat over dates, logistics etc.
