Leader: Neville Grubner
We had 12 bikers and 4 walkers for what turned out to be a very wet trip around to Pencarrow lighthouse and lakes.
The walkers went as far as the Pencarrow lighthouse and some of the bikers went right around to Baring Head, others turning around at the wreck of the SS Paiaka (1906) at Fitzroy bay. The forecast was for rain clearing late morning early afternoon and indeed it did. At that stage we were all quite wet and despite having lunch in the sun back at the cars we headed home enjoying a coffee at Days Bay on the way.
It’s a trip to be repeated on a nice day as it’s quite a spectacular and wild coast around from Pencarrow lighthouse. I imagine it might even have nice views towards the Kaikoura ranges.
