10-12 December 2021
Leader: David Williams
17 of us were on the list for the trip to Waikuku Lodge at the back of Martinborough in the Haurangi foothills. Everyone made their own way over Friday, with Jing and I driving over early Saturday morning.
The group broke into three different parties, with some walking up to Mt Ross, others the Old Mill track, and lastly some walked down to Sutherlands Hut and back. It was a lovely warm day (albeit a little windy on the tops) and all of the groups reported enjoyable trips with everyone ending up at Sutherlands Hut at various times, followed by the horrid walk back up the road to Waikuku.
A nice selection of food had been brought and a number of us spent some time making dumplings (thanks to Rob and June) which I just couldn't get right. There was also an excellent selection of desserts to follow, and as usual we all ate too much.
The weather was not looking great Sunday, with heavy rain forecast and so everyone made their way home ending a fun weekend.
The highlight for me had to be the apron ;-)
Those on the trip were:
Bryan Wild, Chris Keating, Dave Cox, David Williams, Elisabeth Hynes, Glenda Robb, Jing Zhou, Kate Livingston, Marian Cox, Mark Robertson, Neville Grubner, Owen Cox, Penny Currier, Peter Davis, Rob Dey, Susan Robertson, Yingjun Shelton
