Leader: Yingjun Shelton

We did the fenceline loop walk completely around Zealandia, a total distance of 9.36 km, moving time 2 hours and 20 minutes.

There were 11 walkers - 5 of us drove in from Kapiti to Waiapu Rd, the main access road to Zealandia, while 6 Goldcard holders took train and bus.

Fenceline Track

We started the walk from Waiapu Rd track, then followed the 8.6 km predator-proof fence of Zealandia. We gradually climbed first through native bush and this was followed by some steep hills - both ups and downs.

The track lead us to the Brooklyn wind turbine, where we stopped for lunch. After lunch we continued the walk along the fence line, and eventually arrived back at Waiapu Rd where we started.
