Diggers Hut 14-15 September

Before it got washed away
Saturday, 14 September 2013

We stopped and checked out A-Frame (Travers) hut - fair to say it was a complete dump

Some clown even stole the water tank

Imagine what this would be like without a track...

Broken only by ... Takapari Road. What a blessing it is!

A small part of the "the largest continuous expanse ....."

The track was very muddy

Reminds you of another mountain range we regularly tramp in (give you a clue...it starts with Tara)

Leatherwood lass

We rested at the bottom of the hill

Then down the river we went

Yes Sue, go right!

Diggers hut

Sue's cosy abode

Phil found himself a nice secluded spot far (but not too far) from the madding crowd

Back from the morning ablutions

Sue was being all high and mighty like in her new flash tent and demanded breakfast in bed (she didn't get it!)

David had a had a bit of a fit and demolished his ...

... while Neville took his and Elisabeth's for walk

Back up the river

Now back up the hill (groan)

There were some stunning rimus

A nice rest spot, where the pikopiko shoots were tasty and the sun was trying to shine

Back to the cars and Ashhurst bound for a late lunch
