A magnificant day in the Tararuas. Angle Knob top left, McGregor centre, Broken Axe Pinnacles to the right
The climb down off Angle Knob heading toward Shingle Slip Knob. There are a lot of knobs in the Tararuas...looks there's another one haha
It was quite steep in parts
And there she is, the De Haviland Devon that crashed 17/02/1955
It was amazing the good condition it was in after 58 years
I'm sure with the right tools I can get this puppy running again
One of the graves of the two pilots. We realised we were just a day short of the anniversary
Now for climb back up (groan). Angle Knob is the high point centre right and the spur down to McGregor is in shadow on the left
Down to McGregor Biv for the night (if you look carefully, you can see it to the right of the tarn)
The sun setting over Girdlestone (centre)
It was another good day on Sunday, so we decided to come out via Baldy. The Three Kings, with Mitre back left
a shot of Baldy taken by Baldy (deep!)
Heading over the Broken Arse (opps Axe) Pinnacles
We decided to be tough and climb them rather than sidling around them - YEAH BRING IT ON!
This one was the hardest to climb down, steep and nothing to hold on to. Not too much for us tough bunch though
