Dead Dog Hut 5-6 December
Overnight trip to Dead Dog hut in the Ruahines
Saturday, 05 December 2015
The friendly farmer let us drive right to Herricks hut
Badjelly had brought a new dress for the occasion
We started out Dead Dog hut bound
GUO climbing down a steep bank with a rope
Then a steep climb up the other side
Cabbage trees in full bloom
Whilst some of us pondered retirement
Right now for the river bit
It was such a great day for river travel - 30 degrees
We passed some nice camping spots
Even saw two Blue Ducks...quack quack
We got to the hut and all decided to tent
Wayne and his lightweight set up
The club arsonist lit a fire and put the jug on
Then he sat and relaxed with a FMC Bulletin like any good tramper would
You can always tell when the temp starts to drop...the fire huddle begineth
We all had a comfy night despite a little rain
A few spits of rain along the way, but nothing too serious
Wayne showing how it's done
Exactly what are these two up to?
DW provided a free pack carrying service up the rope hill. A few people humoured him by accepting his offer.
Back at Herricks - front runner Heather asked what took us all so long!
