Ruahines via the Apiti track to Makaretu
A quick rest before we headed down to the river

While others crammed into the hut
It was such a lovely day Sunday, we decided to go out over the tops rather than the river, breaking into two groups
You don't see many of these anymore...an experimental area to protect plants from deer and the like

It was an awesome 600m climb

They too reached the top
Our efforts were well rewarded
