Three Kings 23-25 April

Saturday, 23 April 2016

The Waingawa River was up Sunday morning after the rain on Saturday

But up Mighty Mitre we went

It was a little bleak on top, but light wind and not cold

Peggy's Peak looms

A short climb gets you to the top

Mighty Mitre

And down the steep other side

On to Brockett

and up to Girdlestone

It got very cold and was still wet so we headed down to Tarn Ridge hut for the night

Looking back at the climb down from Girdlestone

You cant beat the view from Tarn Ridge - (LtoR) the Twins, Bannister and Dundas Ridge

Dorset Ridge (foreground)

Tarn Ridge hut

Killing time...there was no firewood and it got very cold - so much so, we all jumped into our sleeping bags

We headed off the next morning in good weather. Dorset Ridge Tarn
