A day tip up Bealey Spur in the Arthurs Pass region. The native Mistletoe was in flower in a spectacular way!

Looking down on Bealey Spur from the Lagoon Saddle track (previous trip)

The Mistletoe was in flower everywhere in the bush on Bealey Spur (this is the first of 5 photos)

Bealey Spur is a lovely track - a mixture of mature native bush, regenerating Manuka, and open tussock.

The Bealey River flowing down from Arthurs Pass into the Waimakariri River.

Looking northwest up the Waimakariri valley. Turkey Flat in middle of picture.

The prominent tarn on Bealey Spur.

This dragonfly took a liking to Marian.

Who me! I'm not interested in that pack at all!!

A number of the kea's up here have been tagged. Their numbers are declining at a worrying rate.

High wind clouds - is there bad weather coming?

Bealey Top Hut - an old musterers hut, formerly part of Cora Lynn Station

On the way back down

The very attractive Bealey village. (It's annual rainfall is very much less than the that of Arthurs Pass village, about 12km to the north).
