Coming in on Campbell's Mill Rd - easy so far

Lukey and Rodney

Re-grouping just inside Akatarawa Forest Park

Coming off the first big drop - Whakatiki Road - and the first stream crossing of the day

This is how you do it Lukey!

Time for a break

The Pram Track - a big grunt going up and a fast ride down

John crossing the Akatarawa River West at the bottom of the Pram Track

Lynda was determined to get across

Re-grouping

Lunch time (and time to rest the body and the nerves)

Hukinga Road - steeper than it looks!

Solly taking off

Chris taking off (carefully)

Solly re-emerging after an unscheduled visit to the bush

Even Phil had to get off the bike on this one.

We had to share the track with trail bikes, quad bikes and 4WD vehicles.

We don't bike along this stream do we? ... Yes we do!

But we push the bikes through.

Afternoon tea break

Boots-eye view of rest stop

Dead bikes, dead bodies, and a Parawai salute.

Tired but happy!

Comparing crash injuries to the knees

Chris and Lynda in the Rock Garden

The last difficult bit in the Rock Garden

There were also muddy bits

The last stream crossing of the day

The steep grunt up the Devil's Staircase (recently bulldozed)

Half way up The Devil's Staircase

The top of the Devil's Staircase

Just before the end John R has a puncture. Perhams Road in the background.

Lukey - tired but happy at the end of the Karapoti

Back over the gate to Campbell's Mill Road. We will have traveled around 50km by the time we get back to the cars!
