Farmland just north of the Kawekas
John making his way through the windfall
This is actually the track
We climbed steadily from the start of the Makino Track
Elisabeth is actually on the track!
Peter liked the look of this accommodation!
We're still on the track!
Just as well that track sign was made of metal!
Sunday morning on the way to Mt Whetu
Still no let up on the windfall
Finally clear of the bush - no windfalls up here!
Mt Whetu is up there somewhere!
That's the base of Mt Ruapehu in the distance
We dropped packs at the lower peak then dropped to the saddle below Mt Whetu
Neville and Marcia on Mt Whetu 1650m
Descending from the lower peak - heading for Middle Hill Hut
Back to the bushline - would there be more fallen trees?
It was nice not having windfall
Yes there were some windfalls but not too bad (Yeah right says David!)
Chris jumping a small stream
Middle Hill Hut - a roomy 6 bunker with a veranda
Looking like a bit of tree damage!
It's that farmland again!
Chris being tail-end charlie
Mt Whetu is up there somewhere!
Heading for that road in the distance
