Getting the gear from JP's slate-grey truck

Four good keen men

Heading up the Styx river

Slippery rocks

Mid Styx Hut

The start of tomorrows route

One final crossing

...and we reached Grassy Flat hut

I gotta bone to pick with you!!

Starting the climb up to Browing Biv (that orange codpiece is a little embassing don't you think!!)

Looking back down to Grassy Flats

Browning Biv

Complete with an old fashion first aid kit

Righto, now for the climb up to Lathrop Saddle

We got a brief glimpse back to Hok

The saddle was spectacular

Pantry

The only tarn that wasn't frozen

The route down

Sidling some snow shutes

Pistol

Leave only footprints

Rest stop

Top Crawford hut is on that patch of grass over the second stream

It was a slow descent

But it slowly got closer

An awesome hut and awesome location

Mount Cook Daisy - they were everywhere

Looking back up Lathrop

Next day started with a walk down Crawford Creek

Site of the old Crawford hut

JP

This was like walking amongst a sea of Donald's

We saw a few of these, but unclear what they were

Crawford Junction hut

Exit stage left to Top Kokatahi hut

Cage crossing

It was very slow going up the Kokatahi River

This was like discovering the source of the Nile for us

The power of nature

After many hours we finally reached Top Kokatahi hut

It was our longest day

Day four saw us heading up this unnamed tributary

It was steep climbing for sure

The last 100m was a steep climb out of the stream

Discussing plans

A climb over some snow to the top

and down the other very steep and slippery side

Back into the bush

and lunch at Adventure Biv

A tidy wee place

Looking over at Yeats Ridge hut

From whence we'd come

Pleased to hit the Toraroha River

Old Cedar Flats hut

New Cedar Flats hut

Day five, homeward bound

It was our wetest day

Success!!
