Leader: Owen Cox
We did the trip anti-clockwise going up the steep side and back down past Kapakapanui Hut. We made good time up the ridge to the top, with only a brief stop to look at the pretty tired, privately built hut just off the ridge. This has sprouted a blue tarpaulin on the roof since I was there last.
The track just before the top was dry with little mud. When we got to the top, the cloud cleared enough for us to have lunch just past the trig. On the way down we stopped at the NZDA hut for a break. The site was taped our as there is work to renovate the hut. They have re-lined the hut and are replacing the external cladding. We checked this out before heading down to the stream and then the cars.
Those on the trip were:
Owen Cox, Brian Solomon, Chris Keating, Patrick Liss, Brandon Holman, Eva Petro
