Leader: Owen Cox
This was a Thursday trip. Seven of us started walking from the car park at the south end of Titahi Bay beach.
We went around the coast but after a short distance the tide was in enough to mean we either waded or did a rock climb. Instead 5 of us headed back to the path that goes above the cliffs and then down to the treatment plant outfall. We waited here for Tony and Dave who had a go rock climbing before following us over the path. The walk then followed the coast, with a few short rock scrambles, around to a bay. From here we walked along the beach and then over flat grass around Green Point.
We stopped for lunch on a large log in Open Bay with wonderful views of Mana and the South Island.
Some did a short walk to the point, Te Anapaura, as we wanted to look around the corner. We were delayed by a seal playing in the surf. After that we retraced our steps to a bay north of Green Point.
We then climbed up to the road to the water treatment plant, passing a trashed BMW on the way. We then followed the road to the first houses before going a track back the path we started the walk on and the car park.
A nice easy walk that took about 5 hours including lunch.
Those on the trip were:
Owen Cox, Marian Cox, Tony Quayle, Susan Robertson, Dave Cox, Kate Livingstone, Eva Petro
