Leader: Owen Cox

On the first weekend after the lock-down, two groups of Parawai went up Kapakapanui. I was in the second group of 7 and we started some time after the first group of 4. We went anticlockwise around the circuit, going up the south ridge.

My group had lunch next to the trig and enjoyed clear, still conditions. After lunch, we carried on along the ridge and dropped down to the hut to check the recent renovations.

We then headed on down the northern part of the loop back to the stream and then the cars. Should have been home by 5 but for a traffic jam south of Raumati which took an hour to get through.

The whole trip took 6.5 hours including stops and lunch.
