Leader: David Williams
A large group (can't remember the number ;-) met in Wainuiomata at 7.30am (much to some peoples disgust). I knew it was going to be a long day so wanted plenty of time. We were joined by five members of the FMC executive and it was great to have them along.
We walked into the Orongorongo Valley via the Whakanui Track and ate lunch. Owen and the FMC executive departed as they had flights to catch. The rest of us lazed in the sun and some went to check out Haurangi Hut.
We came back via the Eastern Whakanui Track which was far more scenic, but took us a longer time. We arrived back at the cars some 11 hours later, having walked around 30km.
Those on the trip were:
David Williams, Owen Cox, Peter Davis, Elisabeth Hynes, Yingun Shelton, Nisa Promchot, Sue Pate, Niamh Dunne, Neville Grubner
