9-10 April 2022
Leader: Owen Cox
This trip was to have been to Sunrise Hut but the booking system blocked us. So the logical alternative was to avoid the crowds and a trip up the Mangahao seemed a good alternative.
The road into the Mangahao has got fairly rough with rocks poking through the surface and some good sized potholes.
We headed up the track and had a break at the bridge over the Mangahao River. The next break was lunch in the sun by Harris Creek. Going further, the river and weather was good enough for a quick swim. We arrived at the hut mid-afternoon.
Sunday was also a good day and we returned down the valley to the upper dam. We spent a bit of time checking out the dam before driving home.
Those on the trip were:
Julie James, Mark Robertson, Owen Cox
