Kime Winter Trip

16-17 July 2022

Leader: Paula Richardson

The forecast looked amazing and it was amazing!

We met at the road end at 8:30 and crossed over the newly-opened “official“ track across the slip and wandered up to Field Hut for lunch; no wind and no rain! It was a little chilly though.

Trip Report Photo 1
Hector

After lunch we carried on up to Kime Hut at varying speeds. It was beautiful, with the sun shining on the icy tussock grass. Some of us carried on up to Hector as the sun was setting and were treated to a gorgeous sunset and an icy cross. We waited for the moon to come out but it didn’t rise until later in the evening.

A group of trampers were heading up Hector as we were coming down. They were doing the whole southern crossing overnight by moonlight (and head torches).

We spent a nice night at Kime Hut(not too cold) and headed down the next morning.

Those on the trip were:

John Peterson, Marcia Goode, Nisa Promchot, Owen Cox, Paula Richardson, Stephen Bowler, Yeun An, Yingjun Shelton

Currently there is no photo album for this trip.
