Parawai Tramping Club

Beach Wander

Friday 29 March 2024

Leader: Dave Cox

A fine day with a light southerly wind saw five Parawais on the train to Plimmerton.

Dispensing with customary Parawai practice, we decided to walk past a local coffee shop, electing to head around Karehana Bay and onto the old quarry road. After a quick morning tea we walked along the coast before stopping for lunch south of Wairaka Point.

After lunch we arrived at the narrow spot right on high tide. Two of us decided to wade through the water and head along the beach with Tony who had joined us. Others in the group managed to keep their dry feet by climbing up to the tower service road. We re-grouped at the Pukerua Bay shop to enjoy ice-creams and milkshakes before getting the train home.

Those on the trip were:

Chris Keating, Dave Cox, Glenda Robb, Maryann Bugg, Patrick Liss
