A classic Southern Alps trip.
Day 1 - From the Toaroha Valley road end up the Toaroha River to Cedar Flat Hut.
Day 2 - Continue up the river to Top Toaroha Hut.
Day 3 - Up Bannatyne Creek to Toaroha Saddle and Toaroha Saddle Bivvy. Then down to the Mungo River. Down this river to Poet Hut and then further to start the steep climb to Bluff Hut.
Day - 4 Into the head of the upper Hokitika River and up to Frew Saddle and Frew Saddle Biv. Then down Frew Creek to the Whitcombe River and Frew Hut.
Day - 5 Down the Whitcombe River to the junction of the Hokitika River and Rapid Creek Hut. Then down the Hokitika River, followed by a 3km farm road walk to finish.
