View down the Waipakihi valley
We climbed down out of the mist and rain onto Umukarikari
Waipakihi Hut
View from the hut down the valley
Apparently some of the party climbed this hill on another trip
Happy trampers at the hut
also happy from this view
just a great hut location
Badjelly with her specially brewed chocolate
Got to maintain the personal hygiene when away tramping!
It was a beautiful sunrise
A couple of us slept on the deck
Getting ready to set off
First stop
It was a long, hot, awesome day on the river
we had a great camp site by the river with an awesome swimming hole
Awesome swimming holes all along the river - this one was next to our campsite for the night
Paul (ex Parawai member) and Leanne joined us from Raglan.
You can't beat a camp fire
another fine morning
Near the road end, Ruapehu came into view
Great Uncle Owen got stuck trying to get out
all hands on deck to help him get traction
thankfully a 4wd drive jeep came to our rescue - supervised by Nev!
