Manawatu Gorge Sunday 22 May

Sunday, 22 May 2016

13 of gathered at the Gorge carpark before the drivers moved the cars through to the eastern end.

The track starts alongside the road and crosses under the road a bit further along.

Most of the track is in bush in the Manawatu Gorge Reserve.

Te Apiti Wind Farm on the north side of the river.

There were several lookout points along the way.

One of the lookout spots.

Oh no! Not another Parawai salute!

The Manawatu River.

Suddenly this big fellow reared out of the bush and scooped Paul up with his paddle!

Rata in flower in late autumn.

Nikau Palm with red berries.

The big slip that closed the gorge recently for months.

We heard this one before we saw it.

Tararua Wind Farm on the southern side of the river.

Oh yes! Another Parawai salute!

Looking back to the road bridge at the eastern end of the gorge.

A welcome visit to the Bridge cafe at the end of the trip (while it rained heavily outside).
