Leader: Paula Richardson

Julie and Wayne met at Paula’s place at 9:30am in Paraparaumu. This was the first of many meet-ups and our bike group grew as others joined us as we headed south. The weather was mild and soft drizzly rain made for pleasant riding.

We cycled towards Queen Elizabeth Park via the Expressway cycle path, then onto Paekakariki, collecting several other cyclists along the way. We were making great time, so Susan invited us to call into her place for coffees or teas. After enjoying lovely drinks, we headed onto Finns for our lunch stop and to enjoy our first beverages of the day.

After partaking in a delicious lunch and some refreshments, we were back on our bikes making our way north to The Bond Store in Paraparaumu where we drank some more beverages whilst relaxing and listening to live music. The sun came out. We had a gorgeous afternoon sampling a variety of different drinks. Once the music finished, we got back on our bikes heading north to Long Beach in Waikanae for dinner and more beverages.

We enjoyed another delicious meal accompanied by even more refreshments. Paul got out his ukulele, and we all sang Happy Birthday to Paula for her special birthday. This was followed by more songs which others in the restaurant clapped in appreciation as they were sung. By now it was getting dark, so it was back on our bikes as we headed back to our homes.
