Sunday 26 April 2026
Leader: Brandon Holman
Nine of us caught the 8:40 am bus to Plimmerton and proceeded to walk along the coast to Pukerua Bay.
We faced a strong northerly for much of the time unless protected by headlands. Lilly, our youngest tramper was very much surprised by a basking seal she almost walked into, but we did not see much other wildlife except for birds. Jerri joined us half-way as he walked down from Pukerua Bay.
The sea was very rough for spotting pilot whales, seen recently in Raumati. There was the usual swathe of driftwood as well as much other flotsam in places including a child’s canoe! We stopped for lunch about half an hour before Pukerua Bay, where on arriving, we surprised Tony in his house, as he had planned to join us on the walk, only on the Monday as originally posted, and not the Sunday in question.
Those on the trip were:
Brandon Holman, Geoff Scrase, Maryann Bugg, Owen Cox, Paula Richardson, Petr Kure, Sigi Scrase, Stuart, Jerri, Lilly
Currently there is no photo album for this trip.
