This mid-week walk was to prove the local line "there's no place like Wellington on a good day".

After travelling from the Kapiti Coast by train, we arrived in Wellington at 10:00am and then walked to Oriental Bay to begin the walkway. By that time it was 11:00am and the day was beautiful. Soon after beginning we reached the spot many such photos of the city and harbour are taken from. So we paused briefly too.

Although we weren't hurrying, we made quite rapid progress. We had a lunch stop south of Mount Victoria where some shady seating was available, then continued on to the slopes of Mount Albert.

At 3:00pm we arrived at Island Bay, with just enough time to grab some refreshment before boarding the bus back to the station, and the train home.
