Leader: Owen Cox
This was a trip using public transport. We got off the train at Ngaio and then walked up for morning coffee at the local café. After that we wandered down and followed a short stretch of footpath to Trelissick Park.
We picked the track beside the stream and followed the stream for some time. One of the bridges has been washed away but the stream was easy to cross without getting wet feet.
After a short climb we got on streets in Wadestown and climbed towards Tinakori hill, then picked up the track across its eastern face. We enjoyed lunch looking over the Interislander terminal and Aotea Quay. After lunch we carried on along the east side of Tinakori hill. Two people overshot and had to wait for us near Tinakori Road while the rest of us carried on to the old gun sites on the southern side of Tinakori hill, before dropping down a different track to Tinakori Road. Our next section took us along the Te Araroa route through the Botanical Gardens to the top of the Cable Car and then back down to the rose garden. Some had coffee or other drinks here. We then headed down through the Bowen St cemetery to the railway station and home.
Those on the trip were:
Chris Keating, Glenda Robb, John Peterson, Julie James, Marian Cox, Nisa Promchot, Owen Cox, Sue Sparkes, Lois Hart, Rowan Hart, Erica
